1. What is the difference between standard ceramic and porcelain sublimation ornaments?

Answer: While often grouped together, porcelain is the superior choice for professional results. At Dyecraft Direct, our ornaments are porcelain-based, which means they are fired at higher temperatures than standard ceramic (earthenware). This results in a much smoother surface, a brighter white base for truer colors, and significantly higher durability. When you want a high-definition photo transfer that doesn't look grainy, our premium porcelain is the ideal canvas.

2. Can I sublimate on both sides of these ornaments?

Answer: Absolutely. Dyecraft Direct’s porcelain ornaments feature a high-quality sublimation coating on both sides. This allows you to print a family photo on one side and a date, name, or festive design on the reverse. Double-sided printing increases the perceived value of your products, making them perfect for personalized Christmas gifts, wedding favors, and keepsakes.

The only method of doing both sides simultaneously is using our 3D Vacuum Press with our ZK-MFD vacuum bag.  Otherwise do them one side at a time in your heat press.  Swingaway presses like the DK20S, Fusion XFIQ, Swingman 20 or MS256 are preferable.

3. What are the recommended heat press settings for porcelain ornaments?

Answer: Because porcelain is dense, it requires adequate time to absorb the heat. For Dyecraft Direct porcelain ornaments, we generally recommend pressing at 400°F (204°C) for roughly 180 to 240 seconds.

  • Pro Tip: Use medium pressure and let the ornament cool completely before handling to ensure the coating sets perfectly.  Use our special heat conductive rubber pad #HCFP1416 to avoid breakage.
  • Note: Because heat presses vary, always check the specific instructions on our product page for the exact dwell time.

4. Will the image fade or scratch off over time?

Answer: Not if you are using quality blanks. The specialized polymer coating on our porcelain blanks permanently bonds with the sublimation ink. Once pressed, the image becomes part of the ornament's surface—it will not peel, scratch, or wash away. These are designed to be heirloom-quality keepsakes that your customers can hang on their trees for decades without the colors losing their vibrancy.

5. Do you offer bulk discounts for holiday craft fair inventory?

Answer: Yes! We understand that Q4 is the busiest time for makers. Dyecraft Direct offers competitive pricing on wholesale sublimation ornaments to help you maximize your profit margins. whether you are stocking up for a craft fair or fulfilling corporate holiday orders. Our porcelain ornaments are inspected for quality to ensure you don't waste time or money on chipped or uneven blanks.
